The Ski Association of Slovenia has clearly had a good feel for finding the place where women’s ski jumping would be truly loved. Ljubno has nurtured the first inklings of infatuation into a profound love for life. Therefore, it is no coincidence that this year’s Ladies’ Ski Jumping World Cup event will take place on Valentine’s Day. Well, and the day after. Gathering years of experience, the people of Ljubno have built one of those classic World Cup competitions. They are firmly anchored in the fis calendar and even other organizers have a lot to learn from them.
An important contribution was also made by ski club SSK Ljubno BTC, led by president Alojz Murko, along with the main sponsor and patron Jože Mermal and the company BTC d. d., who support the event financially, which is an increasingly difficult task these days.
We have already witnessed a historic moment at the start of this season. Špela Rogelj became the first Slovenian to win a Ladies’ World Cup competition. This proves that our work flows in the right direction and that we can vie for the top podium spot in women’s ski jumping as well.
